In Islam, prayers are the main important part. There are five prayers that Muslims have to perform every day. These prayers are called fajr prayer, zuhr prayer, Asr prayer, maghrib prayer, and Isha prayer. Zuhr, also known as the noon prayer, is the second prayer of the day.

‘’And to Him is praise throughout the heavens and the earth. And (exalted is He) at night and when you are at noon.”(Ar-Rum 30:18)

Zuhr prayer time is performed after midday when the sun is at its highest point in the sky. It finishes before the Asr prayer begins.

“If it is very hot, then pray the Zuhr prayer when it becomes (a bit) cooler, as the severity of the heat is from the raging of the Hell-fire.”(Sahih al-Bukhari 533, 534)

How Many Zuhr Prayer Rakats?

Zuhr Prayer is the second prayer of the day that Muslims need to do. The Quran says it is important to pray five times a day.

The Zuhr Prayer includes;

  • Four rakats of Sunnah prayers.
  • Four rakats of Fard.
  • Two rakats of Sunnah prayers.
  • Then pray two Nafalrakats.

The Zuhr prayer has four rakats of recommended prayers, four sets of compulsory prayers, two sets of recommended prayers, and two sets of extra prayers, but the extra prayers are not required. Friday prayer is known as jummah prayer and during this time, the usual four rakat of fard are reduced to two rakat. Two missed rakats are replaced by two Khutbahs, which are sermons given by a molvi to teach and share the teachings of Islam and talk about political issues for Muslims.

Importance of Zuhr Prayer Time

All prayers are important, but I will talk about why it is important to pray Zuhr, according to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Quran.

The Quran is a holy book that gives people guidance from Allah. It is meant to help people. The book advises on how to live life by reading it. You can learn how to make good choices in every part of your life. One important thing someone learns from reading the Quran is how prayer is important in Islam. Praying is very important to Allah, and He wants Muslims to pray regularly. It is mentioned a lot in the Quran. In addition, many sayings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) demonstrate the significance of prayer. So, when a Muslim child gets older, their parents show them how to pray. They can demonstrate it themselves or use the apps to learn the step-by-step Salat.

Benefits according to Quraan and Ahdees

Are you looking to learn about the benefits of offering the Zuhr Prayer according to the Quran and Hadith? You are in the right place. I will explain the best things about Zuhr Prayer, as described in the Quran.

‘’Maintain with care the (obligatory) prayers and (in particular) the middle prayer and stand before Allah, devoutly obedient.’’ (Al-Baqarah, 2:238)

The Doors of Heaven is Open

The Messenger of Allah used to pray four times after the sun went down and before the Zuhr prayer. He would say.

“This is an hour at which the gates of heaven are opened, and I like that my good deeds should rise to heaven at that time.”

The Hadith says that when Muslims pray to Zuhr and do good things, the doors of Heaven open for them during Zuhr prayer time. Now is the perfect time to pray to Allah. Praying at specific times is important in Islam.

“I performed along with the Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H) two rakats of optional prayers before Zuhr two after the Zuhr (noon prayer), two after the Friday prayer, and two after the Maghrib prayer, and two after the Isha prayer.”Ibn Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) said: (Al-Bukhari)

Improves the Health of Your Body

It makes your body healthier and helps your intestines to relax. Before you pray, you take wudu, the cold water feels good and helps you relax. Your blood will flow better and give you more energy for the rest of the day. The time for Zuhr is not just for resting, but also for having lunch. Your muscles are not tight anymore and your stomach feels calm.

The Prophet (PBUH) said:

“People keep on sinning but when they offer the morning prayer it washes them. Then they keep on sinning but when they offer the Zuhr prayer it washes them. Then they sin again but when they offer the Asr prayer it washes them. Then they keep on sinning and when they offer Maghrib prayers it washes them. Then they keep on sinning and when you offer Isha prayers it washes them. Then they fall asleep and their sins are not written till they awake.”(Mu’jam as-Saghir 1/91,121)

Protects the Person from Hell

The Prophet (PBUH) said,

“In very hot weather delay the Zuhr prayer till it becomes (a bit) cooler because the severity of heat is from the raging of Hell-fire. The Hell-fire of Hell complained to its Lord saying: O Lord! My parts are eating (destroying) one another. So, Allah allowed it to take two breaths, one in the winter and the other in the summer. The breath in the summer is at the time when you feel the severest heat and the breath in the winter is at the time when you feel the severest cold.”

Quraan also elaborates on the prayers,

‘’Establish prayer at both ends of the day [dawn (Fajr) and afternoon (Zuhr/Asr)] and in the early part of the night (Maghrib/Isha). Surely good deeds wipe out evil deeds. That is a reminder for the mindful.’’(Hud 11:114)

When you pray the Fard prayers of Zuhr, you get the same reward as when you pray other required prayers, and Allah rewards you. However, when it comes to the Zuhr Sunnah, the Prophet (PBUH), in a hadith, said:

“Whoever observes the practice of performing four Rakat before the Zuhr prayer and four (2 sunnah, 2 nafl) after the zuhr prayer, Allah will send him against the Fire (of Hell).”(Tirmidhi)

Conclusion

The Zuhr Prayer time is not only when our accounts are closed and heaven’s doors open, but also when we are in the middle of our busy day. Thinking about Allah can make you feel better and give you more energy to get through the day positively. Praying Zuhr is not just something we have to do; it also helps us feel better for the rest of the day.
