The Quran tells us to pray five times a day. When we think about our Creator, it helps us remember that we will go back to Him after we die. We will be rewarded for the good things we have done and punished for the bad things we have done.
All five daily prayers are important and should be noticed, but the Fajr and Isha prayers are especially important for telling who truly believes in Islam and who is just pretending.
The Messenger of Allah The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said:
“The most difficult salah for the munafiqeen is Isha and Fajr. Had they known the rewards for them they would have attended them even if they had to crawl on their knees.” [Sahih Bukhari: 657]
Isha Prayer Timings Start and End
Each prayer has a specific time to do it and usually has a set schedule like Fajr, Dhuhur, Asr, and Maghrib. However, Isha starts later than the other prayers and ends before Fajr. But to be more specific, the ideal time for the session is just before midnight.
Each prayer time lasts until the next one starts, except for the morning prayer which lasts until daybreak. According to what Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said, it is best to pray Isha before midnight, but if you fall asleep early, you can still pray it before Fajr starts, although it is not recommended.
Abu Qatadah (R. A) said that the Prophet (PBUH) of Allah said:
“There is no negligence in sleeping, but the negligence lies in not praying until the time of the next prayer has come. And whosoever does so should pray as soon as he becomes aware of the negligence.”(Muslim)
Isha prayer rakats:
It contains of 17 rakats:
- Sunnah four rakats
- Fardh four rakats
- Sunnah Muakkadah two rakats
- Nafl (optional) two rakats
- Witr 3 rakats
- Nafl (optional) two rakats
Witr rakat Prayer
Hazrat Aisha RA related the Holy Prophet (PBUH) saying:
“Allah’s Apostle offered Witr prayer at different nights at various hours extending (from the ‘Isha’ prayer) up to the last hour of the night.”[Sahih Bukhari: 996]
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said Tahajjud Salah is very important. It helps you get close to Allah and purify your soul. It also makes Witr Rakats more important.
In the past, the Tahajjud prayer was offered at night after sleeping, but the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) allowed people to pray it along with the Isha prayer, especially during Ramadan. Now, it is considered a necessary part of this prayer.
Dua E Qunoot
Praying is a way to show our respect to Allah. It includes saying Surah Fateha, which asks for guidance to stay on the right path. However, during the Isha prayer, the Witr Rakats include an extra supplication called Dua e Qunoot.
“O Allah! We beg help from You alone; ask forgiveness from You alone, and turn towards You and praise You for all the good things and are grateful to You and are not ungrateful to You, and we part and break off with all those who are disobedient to You. O Allah! You alone do we worship and pray exclusively to You and bow before You alone and we hasten eagerly towards You and we fear Your severe punishment and hope for Your Mercy as Your severe punishment is surely to be meted out to the unbelievers.”
This is a collection of prayers to Allah that has almost every request in it.
Significance of Isha prayer time
The Isha prayer is very important in Islam because it is a time when Muslims can connect spiritually with Allah. It is a way for Muslims to show their devotion and surrender to God’s will.
Importance according to Quran Verses
In the Quran, Allah said:
So bear patiently (O Muhammad ﷺ) what they say, and glorify the praises of your Lord before the rising of the sun, and before its setting, and during some of the hours of the night, and at the sides of the day (an indication for the five compulsory congregational prayers), that you may become pleased with the reward which Allah shall give you.(Taha 20:130)
The Quran, which is Islam’s Holy Book, says that Isha’s prayer is very important in many places. Here is a verse from the Surah Isra:
‘’Establish Prayer from the declining of the sun to the darkness of the night; and hold fast to the recitation of the Qur’an at dawn, for the recitation of the Qur’an at dawn is witnessed.’’95 (17:78)
Muslims follow this instruction from Allah to ask for help and kindness while showing their belief. The significance of Isha prayer for Muslims because it helps them feel closer to Allah Almighty and brings them comfort and peace.
Doing these things at night shows that people are following Islamic teachings from the Quran. It is also a way of worshipping.
Importance according to Ahdees
The significance of offering the Isha prayer is very important in Islam. According to the Holy PBUH, Muslims should offer it on a regular basis.
“Whoever prays Isha in the congregation, it is as if he has stood half of the night in prayer. And whoever prays Fajr in the congregation, it is as if he has stood the entire night in prayer.”(Jami` at-Tirmidhi 221)
Every prayer has its importance. Fajr prayer helps us start the day correctly and have a successful day. Doing good things in Islam brings many blessings and rewards. Similarly, performing Isha Salah is difficult but it comes with great rewards from Allah.
Uthman (R.A) reported that the Prophet (PBUH) said:
“Whoever offers Isha salah in jama’ah it is as though he spent half the night in worship. And whoever offers fajr salah in jama’ah it is as though he spent the entire night in worship.”(Muslim)
This prayer has many blessings and if you say it, you will get the same rewards as if you spent half the night praying to Allah SWT. It means that praying for just a few minutes can be as good as praying for a long time.

Timing Misconception
Some people think they can pray Isha whenever they want before Fajr, but that’s not true. It creates confusion and inconsistency in praying this important prayer.
We should follow the basic rule that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has taught us:
“The beginning of the time for Salat is pleasing to Allah, and the end of its time is pardoned by Allah.”Jami` at-Tirmidhi 172
Instead of asking when to pray, try to pray at the beginning time. This makes sure they make the most of the chance to get the rewards and blessings that come with it.
Misconception about Importance
Many people think Isha’s prayer is not as important as other prayers, but this comes from not knowing its benefits and blessings. The Isha prayer is very important in Islam because it is the last prayer of the day and shows our devotion to Allah before we go to bed.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that if you pray Isha regularly, it is like you pray half the night. It is really important to him. It is important to understand and value the significance of this prayer as a key part of our faith journey. It helps us get closer to Allah and receive many blessings.
The Connection between Isha Prayer and Fajr Prayer
Learn how Isha’s prayer is connected to other prayers and brings a feeling of thinking and thankfulness at the end of the day. It is also a way to begin a new day with the Fajr prayer.
After a tiring day, Muslims pray to Isha to think about what they did and say thank you for the good things in their life. It is a time to think about the things we have done and ask Allah for forgiveness.
Praying Isha is like a bridge between the end of the day and the start of the next day. It connects the last prayer of the day with the first prayer of the next day, which is Fajr. We end our day by saying a special prayer called Isha and thinking about the good things that happened. We also ask for forgiveness if we do something wrong. Then we go to bed.
The Significance of Isha and Fajr Prayers
We don’t know if we will wake up tomorrow, but we believe that praying and sleeping after Isha’s prayers can help us be forgiven for our mistakes. Praying Fajr at dawn starts a new day with chances to grow and be blessed. Connecting Fajr with Isha prayer shows how important it is to pray regularly and sincerely to Allah SWT every day.
As we end one night and start another, praying Isha and then Fajr shows that we are dedicated to asking Allah for help in all parts of our lives. It reminds us that every moment is a chance to ask for forgiveness, grow spiritually, and do things that make Him happy.
Closing Thoughts

By praying sincerely and devotedly, believers can feel a strong connection with Allah SWT. This prayer helps us be disciplined and focused, which can bring peace and calmness inside.
